Specializing in watercolor, Alda Kaufman is one of Dubuque's most respected artists. She prefers using watercolors because she believes it has a mind of its own. Yet, the detail of her work demonstrates her control over the medium. She places her emphasis on the artwork’s composition and design. She has won awards from both the Iowa Artists Society and the Iowa Watercolor Society. And twice her artwork has been featured on the cover of Julien’s Journal. Kaufman’s subject matter includes local landscapes and landmarks. She has won awards from both the Iowa Artists Society and the Iowa Watercolor Society.
